Antique Children's Books
We don’t think of the book value in dollars when we give a child a book. Antique children’s books command a good price if the spine is not broken; there is no scribbling, the outer paper cover, if it came in the original, should be intact and there should be no marks from coffee cups and the likes. On the rare occasion you find such a book it is worth a lot of money.
Antique children’s books also gain value by the author; the characters depicted and even the publisher. Normally first editions command the highest price unless they changed the artist who drew the characters and then the second edition gets a higher price.
The original Peter Rabbit by Beatrice Potter is a very collectable book both because of the character and because of the author. Children’s books come in a lot of categories. Story Books, Pop Up books and coloring books are some of them.
